TEHRAN (IRNA) -- A moderate quake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale hit the northeast of Bahabad in the central province of Yazd Tuesday afternoon.

Seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University registered the quake at 17:52 hours local time (14:22 GMT).

The epicenter of the tremor was located in an area measuring 56.22 degrees in longitude and 32.65 degrees in latitude, the report added.

There are no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the quake.

Iran is often hit by quakes of varying magnitudes as it sits on some of the world's most active seismic fault lines.
